of Socks the survivor
"Twins, Hannah and Helen are shocked when Sally
Freeman's (the local vet) son Ashley finds a box of three
kittens under a bench. They take them to Lucy Carlton at
the Stonelea cat rescue. The kittens are very weak and all
Miss Carlton and the twins can do is keep feeding them little
drops of milk. Lucy can't manage all three kittens at once
so Helen offers that when they have asked their mum they
might be able to take the tortoishell one, which they have
fallen in love with back to Home farm.
Hannah and Helen are just about to go and meet their friend
Laura to go for a horse ride when the phone rings. The twins
stay behind for a moment just incase it is Laura, but when
their mother, Mary Moore comes out of the door with a sad
looking face and tells them that it was Lucy with some bad
news, the twins have a sudden sad thought!
I love the way Jenny writes her books like the twins are
always on a mission. I also love them because they are about
animals which i love, on a farm, which is where i want to
live when i'm older and because they are twins and i'm one
too! Jenny is my alltime best author because she inspired
me to write my stories about Stardust the pony!"

| "My
favourite book by Jenny Oldfield, is Wild Horses, in The
Horses Of Half Moon Ranch series.
I love it how there are pictures, but very few. The front
cover is lovely, and the stallion looks really angry, like
he is trying to protect his herd. I really like the way
the story is told, and how everything is described. The
story is supposed to be in America, and when I first read
it, I thought the writer was American, it was that good.
But it is not written in a slang way, and although I have
only just finished reading it, it is my favourite book ever!
The story is about a girl who is 13, called Kirstie, and
her mum owns a trekking center.
When Kirstie gets separated from the rest of the group,
she finds a wild stallion, who then gets hurt by rocks.
She finds him a few weeks later, and someone is helping
him, but no one knows who. Then Kirstie finds out that it
might be a man, who wants to help the stallion until it
gets better, the use him for rodeo.
I would reccommend this book for people ages 9-13"
